In March 1942, the daring St. Nazaire Raid was executed by the British Royal Navy and Commandos against German-occupied France’s strategic dry dock. This operation, codenamed "Chariot," involved a fleet including the specially modified Vosper MTB 74. The MTB 74 played a crucial role with its unique features such as foredeck torpedo tubes and engine silencers designed to minimize noise. Although it succeeded in its mission to disable anti-submarine nets and launch torpedoes, it was ultimately lost in action.
The Italeri 5619S model kit brings this piece of naval history to life in 1/35 scale, offering enthusiasts an opportunity to build a detailed representation of the MTB 74. The kit includes newly developed molds and photo-etched components that enhance the accuracy and realism of the build, making it a desirable addition for serious collectors and model builders.
