Company introduced its brand new motorcycle: the Norton Commando. The Commando adopted a parallel twincylinder 750cc engine with two valves per cylinder. Compared to the previous Uk machines it was
characterized by the bigger displacement while the tilted forward cylinders. Making use of the Isolastic antivibration system provided and impressive increase for the cycling convenience. The Norton Commando, replaced the outdated Atlas, and obtained straight away an excellent commercial success. It became highly popular and well-known all around the globe. In the United Kingdom it won the motor bike News “Machine of the season” honor for five successive years from 1968 to 1972.
