WILLYS JEEP 1/4 TON 4X4 ARMA DEI CARABINIERI

During 1940, while 2nd WW already started, the General Staff of the United States announced a competition for the construction of a light vehicle with four-wheels drive that may provide for several purposes. The tender was attended by the American Bantam Company, the Willys Overland engine and Ford Motor Co. The choice fell on Willys, which, after a pre-production of 1500 automobiles, through the 1941 was wear the installation lines and stated in 640,000 devices, 277,000 of which were produced from Ford. It was the key reason why the "Jeep" was the automobile mostly made out of the armed forces industry through the 2nd WW.Immediately following the war, the Carabinieri Army had been loaded with Jeep from various A.R.A.R. camps (camps in which Italian, German and allies army automobiles left in the Italian peninsula at the end associated with the war were gathered), which remained in service before 'beginning of the 50s, once the cars begun to be currently too used from the use.
