The Tamiya 89783 is a meticulously crafted 1/35 scale model of the Italian L6/40 light tank, capturing the distinct features of this WWII-era vehicle. Developed by Fiat-Ansaldo in 1936 and mass-produced from 1941, the L6/40 was utilized across various fronts, including North Africa, the Balkans, and Russia. Despite its eventual obsolescence due to rapid advancements in tank design, the L6/40 remains a significant piece of military history.
This limited edition model kit offers an authentic build experience with its riveted hull design similar to the Italian Medium Tank Carro Armato M13/40. The kit includes detailed transmission components, driver’s seat, drive shaft, and a turret-mounted 20mm gun. Builders can personalize their model with open or closed hatch options for both the hull and turret, as well as engine inspection doors.
The kit features assembly-type tracks and photo-etched parts for door hinges, exhaust covers, and number plates. It also includes five marking options representing tanks from the North African, Russian, and Balkan fronts, as well as a German service variant. Additionally, two Tamiya-made soldier figures, a standing officer and a sitting crewman, are provided with military uniform decals.
