During World War II, the Japanese Navy commissioned the development of the Komatsu G40 Bulldozer to facilitate airfield construction. As Japan's first domestically produced bulldozer, it marked a significant milestone in Japanese engineering. Despite the production of 148 units, the war's progression meant few reached their intended destinations. Today, only one surviving G40 is displayed at the Komatsu Techo Center in Shizuka, Japan, celebrated as a Mechanical Engineering Heritage item by the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers in 2007.
Tamiya's 1/48 scale rendition of the Komatsu G40 captures the essence of this historical vehicle with precision. The model is crafted with attention to detail, featuring intricately designed hydraulic lines and an IJN emblem on the front grille. This model not only serves as a tribute to its real-world counterpart but also offers a rewarding building experience for military model enthusiasts.
