This is a 1/12 scale plastic assembly kit representing the Yamaha YZR-M1 campaigned by the Monster Yamaha Tech3 team in 2009, positioned as a display-scale replica that reproduces frame and engine layout.
In 2009 the team changed its name after Monster Energy became the main sponsor, and the YZR-M1 machines adopted a black livery with white and fluorescent yellow graphics. Bridgestone was the sole tire supplier that year, prompting updates to the YZR-M1 chassis and setup. Rider Colin Edwards adapted to the new tires and scored consistent points, including a notable second-place finish at the British Grand Prix after a late-race maneuver.
As a kit, the model focuses on mechanical accuracy at display scale. The twin-tube delta box frame and the 800cc inline-4 engine are reproduced as visible external assemblies. The kit includes synthetic rubber front and rear tires and vinyl tubing to represent throttle, clutch, and brake lines. Side fairings and the fuel tank cover are designed to be removable after final assembly for display access. Parts are provided to depict the suspension in a compressed state, and Cartograph decals are supplied to replicate the 2009 livery.
The kit is a scale-focused replica that emphasizes external mechanical detail and livery accuracy, suitable for experienced builders seeking a display-quality motorcycle model.
