Tamiya 18664 Jr Tyxiv on ME chassis
The Jr Tyxiv is a body design produced in collaboration with an external design partner and supplied as a 1/32 Mini 4WD assembly kit mounted on the ME chassis. The shell is low and compact, with a focus on aero lines and a choice of a tinted canopy or an open-top cockpit; the canopy can be removed to allow a driver figure or a more traditional look. Switchable fender sections permit the standard small-diameter tires or, after changing the front and rear fender parts, separately sold large-diameter tires.
The ME chassis, developed as a "Midship Evolution" concept, follows the double-shaft motor layout established in prior Tamiya double-shaft designs. It balances a restrained weight with a molded ABS structure intended to combine rigidity and measured flex. Bumpers are molded separately, assembly follows standard Mini 4WD practices, and low-friction 620 POM plastic bearings are used where noted to improve rolling efficiency.
Cosmetic parts include fluorescent green and transparent smoke color elements, silver 5-spoke wheels fitted with the kit small-diameter super hard low-profile tires, and dedicated stickers. The kit includes a double-shaft motor and a 3.5:1 gear ratio drivetrain. Two AA batteries are required but sold separately.
