Base of the Wing Revolution

The group Lotus Type 78 showcased its performance in the 1977 race season. Its innovative design showcased a slim monocoque with side pontoons, which had undersurfaces shaped like inverted aircraft wings to come up with downforce, and immediately rendered all other race vehicle designs obsolete.
