In 1982, the planet Endurance Championship introduced this new Group C class, and the Porsche 956 quickly established itself once the dominant force inside category. In 1984, Toyota debuted a unique Group C device, the 84C, to challenge the Porsche for top honors at Le Mans. Featuring an aluminum twin pipe monocoque framework, effective 2,090cc twin turbo inline 4-cylinder engine, and higher level ground impact aerodynamics. Despite its potential, the Porsche simply proved to be too strong as well as the only thing the 84C gained in events it joined ended up being experience.
