The real Toyota Celica LB Turbo Gr.5 was developed for the 1977 DRM (Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft) based on the Celica Liftback. It featured wide overfenders, large rear wing and extensive use of lightweight body panels to meet Group 5 regulations. The competition car used a heavily modified 2,090cc turbocharged inline-four with dual overhead cams and competitive power output for its era, debuting in mid 1977 and securing notable results against contemporary rivals.

As a kit reissue, this release updates the original tooling with new Cartograf decals, a revised instruction sheet and refreshed packaging.
