This is a 1/48 scale plastic assembly kit reproducing the Messerschmitt Bf109 G-6 late model, issued as a research-informed release within the Tamiya 1/48 aircraft series.
The Messerschmitt Bf109 was a primary German single-engine fighter of World War II, produced in large numbers and deployed across multiple fronts. The G-6 variant, introduced in mid-1943, featured a characteristic nose bulge known as the Beule, the Erla Haube reduced-frame canopy for improved visibility, and from August 1943 onward many airframes carried 21 cm rocket launchers under the wings. The G-6 served on both Eastern and Western fronts and remained in front-line service through the end of the war.
The kit recreates late-model external characteristics based on documented references. New engine cowlings reproduce the Beule nose bulge and right-side air scoop, and these cowlings are designed to be assembled open or closed and can be interchanged. A new transparent Erla Haube canopy is included and may be fitted open or closed. Additional new parts represent the canopy center rearview mirror and its cover, main landing gear bay doors with the cloth covers removed, and the wing-mounted 21 cm rocket launchers with their support pylons. The instructions include a color painting guide and decals for four marking options, one representing the aircraft flown by Hermann Graf. The kit can be built in three configurations: early model, late model, or a mixed configuration combining features of both. Fuselage length and wingspan are stated for reference in the specifications below.
A research-informed 1/48 kit that reproduces late-model Bf109 G-6 external features and offers multiple assembly options, suitable for display-focused model builders and collectors.
