Aluminum low-CG dampers and rally tires for Slash 4x4

This 4-piece set from GPM replaces stock components on specified Traxxas Slash 4x4 RC models to lower the centre of gravity and improve chassis stability during faster runs. The kit combines aluminum-bodied dampers tuned for rally-style handling with matched low-ground-clearance tires to reduce body roll and help the chassis track straighter on flat and mixed surfaces.

The dampers use a larger shock cylinder with a 13.8mm diameter (up from 12.8mm), and a 4mm-thick shock shaft; coil springs have a nominal increase in length from 1.5mm to 2mm compared to the referenced baseline. Those changes increase oil volume and spring seating range, which affects mid-speed compliance and damping consistency across small bumps.

Included hardware lets you adjust ride height and preload: 4mm and 5mm aluminum shims, hex converters and lock nuts, plus Delrin collars and stainless button-head screws to secure assembly. Use the shims to tune initial spring preload and the 12-17 hex converters to fit the existing wheel hex pattern on Slash 4x4 models.

Installation notes: the kit is intended for hobbyists familiar with basic disassembly of RC suspension; verify thread engagement depth when replacing fasteners and re-check wheel alignment after fitting the dampers and tires. Tuning advice: start with conservative preload and two 4mm shims front and rear, then adjust spring preload and damping oil to balance understeer/oversteer for your track surface.

  • Slash LOW CG 68086-21

This GPM kit is an aftermarket RC-scale upgrade that focuses on lowering roll center and improving damping response for the Traxxas Slash 4x4 family; use the included shims and collars to fine-tune preload and track feel before aggressive running.

The kit is specified for Traxxas Slash 4x4 and Slash LOW CG 68086-21 only; standard 2WD Slash models are not listed as compatible.
Use the aluminum shims to adjust spring preload and slightly raise or lower ride height, which influences cornering balance and initial roll stiffness.
The set includes multiple stainless button-head screws for mounting the components shown, but keep stock hardware on hand and compare lengths before replacing any critical fasteners.
Begin with minimal preload, run short laps to assess balance, then incrementally add shims or increase damping to reduce body roll and fine-tune corner exit traction.
