The German Zerstorer Z-28, a Type 1936A destroyer, holds a unique place in naval history. Commissioned on August 9th, 1941, this flotilla leader was distinct for its armament configuration, featuring four single 15cm guns, unlike any other ship in its class. The Z-28's larger aft deck house was designed to accommodate additional staff, enhancing its role as a command vessel. Its service came to a tragic end when it was sunk by British bombers on March 3rd, 1945, in the Baltic Sea.
This 1/700 scale model kit by Trumpeter offers an excellent opportunity for hobbyists to recreate the Z-28 with precision. The kit includes options for both waterline and full-hull versions, allowing modelers to choose their preferred display style. The inclusion of slide-molded upper and lower hulls, along with photo-etched parts for finer details like the mast and stand, ensures a high level of realism and authenticity.
