A 1:350 scale representation of the Ka-31 HELIX naval airborne early-warning helicopter presented as a multi-sprue plastic model for experienced builders and collectors.
The real Ka-31 is a shipborne airborne early-warning helicopter derived from Kamov coaxial-rotor designs and equipped with a prominent surveillance radar for fleet situational awareness. It was developed to extend a surface fleet's detection range against air and surface targets and has seen service with several navies on board surface combatants and amphibious ships.
This model reproduces the subject at a compact size suitable for 1:350 ship dioramas. The kit comprises six sprues and ninety plastic parts, with a finished fuselage length of 41.8 mm and a width of 40.1 mm. Molded detail focuses on external surfaces and major airframe shapes rather than interior features; assembly will require careful handling of small components and standard plastic-model tools and adhesives.
Build notes: allow time for subassembly of the rotor mast and radar structure, use thin washes and precise brushwork for the radar and sensor areas, and consider aftermarket photo-etch or fine-thread for antenna and tie-down details if greater scale fidelity is desired. No decals are supplied, so markings require painting or custom decals.
A compact representation of the Ka-31 HELIX suitable for inclusion in 1:350 naval displays; the parts count and dimensions suit builders focused on external accuracy and deck integration.
