The German Sd.kfz.186 Jagdtiger, renowned for its prowess during World War II, was developed to provide long-range support against armored vehicles and infantry. By October of the same year, a wooden mock-up was presented to Adolf Hitler, marking a pivotal moment in its development. The Jagdtiger was initially designated as the Jagdpanzer VI before adopting its more recognized name.

Two prototype versions were constructed, featuring distinct suspension systems: one with Porsche's design and another with Henschel's. The latter, characterized by its nine road wheels, entered production in July 1944 despite initial plans for a December 1943 start, delayed due to prioritization of other military vehicles like the Pz.Kpfw V Panther.
