Wide 5.0mm drive belt for MD3.0

The Yokomo MD-144LW is a 5.0mm wide drive belt specified for MD3.0 platforms and compatible MDR-030 variants, designed to reduce belt stretch and improve throttle feel on 1/10 scale electric RC cars.

Compared with a standard 3.0mm belt, the 5.0mm width (approximately 1.6× wider) reduces measurable elongation under load, which translates to a firmer, more direct transfer of motor input to the spur gear. The wider profile also lowers the risk of belt skipping and can extend service life under typical hobby use.

On chassis where the tensioner can be adjusted slightly firmer, pairing this belt with a modest increase in tension often yields a noticeably sharper initial acceleration response. Take care to balance tension against bearing and gearbox preload to avoid excess drivetrain drag.

Installation tips: verify pulley alignment before final tensioning, run a short check at low throttle to confirm smooth engagement, and inspect tooth wear periodically. Replace the belt if fraying or pronounced elongation appears to maintain consistent performance.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
The 5.0mm belt offers reduced elongation and firmer power transfer, lowering skip risk and improving throttle response compared to a 3.0mm belt.
Check pulley alignment and increase tension slightly if your tensioner allows, but avoid over-tightening to prevent added drivetrain drag.
