The RD-630BK is a lightweight spur gear hub designed for use with Yokomo's RD, SD, and MD drift platforms. Its larger diameter increases the contact area with the spur gear, which helps stabilise rotation and reduce vibration during steady throttle and steering inputs.
Because the hub positions the spur gear closer to the gear case than some earlier hubs, load on the top shaft is reduced under sudden acceleration, producing a more direct drive feel. When replacing series-standard hubs such as Y4-630A, Y2-630PA, or Y2-630RA the set-screw fixing position differs from previous parts.
For vehicles that require the alternate fixing position, Yokomo recommends using the matching top shaft RD-631 to ensure correct set-screw alignment and secure installation. The RD-630BK serves as a tuning part aimed at improving spur engagement and drivetrain feel rather than changing gear ratios.
As a drop-in hop-up for compatible Yokomo drift chassis, the RD-630BK focuses on improved spur hold and reduced vibration, and should be paired with the RD-631 top shaft when replacing earlier standard hubs that use a different set-screw position.
