64 Pitch 42T Pinion Gear

The Yokomo YOKPG6442 is a 64 pitch, 42-tooth pinion intended as a direct replacement part for R/C gear trains that use 64-pitch gearing. As a basic drivetrain component, its role is to transfer rotation from the motor to the spur gear and determine the overall gear ratio when combined with the spur.

Installation notes: confirm the pinion matches your 64-pitch spur and that the motor shaft type is compatible with the pinion bore and set-screw arrangement before fitting. Start with a conservative mesh, check for even contact across the tooth face, then fine-tune with minimal lateral movement. Secure the set-screw(s) while holding the motor steady to avoid misalignment, and recheck gear mesh after a short run to detect any seating changes.

Tuning guidance: changing tooth count on the pinion alters acceleration and top speed trade-offs, so use the 42-tooth option as one step in incremental ratio testing. After any ratio change, inspect for excessive heat, unusual noise, or worn teeth and adjust mesh and pinion height as needed. Regular maintenance includes cleaning debris from the gear teeth and checking for burrs or damage that can accelerate wear on both pinion and spur.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
It is made for 64-pitch gear systems, so it should mesh correctly with standard 64-pitch spurs provided the bore and shaft interface match.
No specialised tools are required beyond a proper hex driver for the set-screw and standard hand tools to support the motor during tightening.
