Purpose and fit for rear suspension

This Yokomo YOKRP-084O Ultra Off-Road Rear Spring (Orange) is an RC-scale rear spring designed for the rear suspension of 1/10-class off-road buggies and trucks. It is intended as a replacement or tuning option to alter rear-end behaviour without modifying shocks or mounting hardware.

The spring uses a corrosion-resistant steel wire finished in an orange coating to help identify spring rate ranges during setup. As an aftermarket spring it focuses on mechanical consistency and linear response for corner exit traction and mid-corner stability on loose surfaces.

Installation is straightforward for standard shock assemblies: remove the shock cap and spring retainer, swap the spring while preserving any internal shims or spacers, then verify preload and spring seating. Always check shock shaft straightness and shock oil condition when changing springs to isolate variables during tuning.

Tuning notes: increasing rear spring stiffness tends to reduce squat and improve turn-in under acceleration, while softer springs increase compliance and traction on irregular terrain. Use incremental changes and test on representative surfaces, adjusting preload first before changing spring sets. Keep records of setup changes so you can return to known baselines during a race weekend or practice session.
