Shock Oil 200 is a silicone-based damper fluid intended for RC-scale shock absorbers where a 200cSt damping characteristic is required. As a basic tuning component, this oil changes compression and rebound behaviour by altering fluid flow through the shock pistons and shim stack, so it is used when fine-tuning handling balance rather than replacing mechanical parts.
Installation is straightforward: drain the old fluid from the shock body, ensure the shock shaft and seals are clean, then fill the shock to the manufacturer’s recommended level while avoiding air pockets. Cycle the shaft slowly during filling to remove trapped air, wipe excess from the shock exterior, and verify seal seating before reassembly. Use basic shock tools and a syringe or dedicated oil filler for accurate volume control.
Tuning guidance: moving to a thicker oil increases compression and rebound damping, slowing responses and reducing high-speed flutter, while thinner oil yields quicker movement and more compliance over small bumps. Use 200cSt as a baseline for moderate damping and adjust spring rates, piston holes, or shim stacks to balance the car after changing oil viscosity. Monitor changes on a test lap and make incremental adjustments.
Storage and handling: keep the oil capped and stored at room temperature away from dust, label containers clearly to avoid cross-contamination, and clean tools after use. Dispose of used fluid according to local regulations for chemical waste.
