Shock oil for RC shocks

This is a silicone-based shock oil supplied under the Yokomo YOKYS350 designation and identified by the #350 viscosity marking, intended specifically for R/C shock absorbers on model cars and buggies. As an R/C-scale accessory the oil’s role is to provide predictable damping behaviour inside threaded shock bodies and cartridges, affecting both compression and rebound response without implying any real vehicle application.

In practice the oil is used as the damping medium inside each shock; changing to a heavier or lighter oil alters how quickly the shock compresses and returns. When tuning, swap viscosities one step at a time and verify changes on the track or practice area, focusing on body roll, traction transitions, and how the model reacts over repeated bumps.

Installation is standard for threaded shock cartridges: fully disassemble the shock, drain existing fluid, inspect seals and pistons for wear or contamination, then refill to the manufacturer’s recommended level before reassembling. Work in a clean area and remove air bubbles by cycling the piston slowly while topping up the oil.

Tuning notes: use the 350 grade where a medium-to-firm damping character is needed, and pair the oil choice with spring rate and preload to reach the desired balance between stability and compliance. Test with short sessions and adjust incrementally rather than making large jumps in viscosity.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
The #350 indicates the approximate viscosity grading used to select damping strength, with higher numbers giving firmer damping under comparable conditions.
Change viscosity in small steps, compare lap times or handling feel, and always confirm results after a few runs to allow the model to settle into the new setting.
Keep shocks clean, replace seals if leaks appear, and avoid mixing different brands without flushing the system first to prevent contamination.
